Join us in The Pavilion for a joyful VE Day gathering with Sherborne’s own Ann Knobbs.
Ann has lived in Sherborne for more than 60 years, but her VE Day memory reaches right back to childhood: a moment of celebration, surprise and sweetness, when American soldiers passed her an apronful of candy through a fence.
A pianist from the age of three, Ann first found her way to the instrument by reaching up to her grandmother’s piano and tinkling the keys while it was being dusted. Decades later, she returns to the piano for an uplifting lunchtime programme of music, memory and community.
The programme will include much-loved wartime favourites such as We’ll Meet Again, Underneath the Lamplight and Wish Me Luck as You Wave Me Goodbye. Guests are very welcome to sing along, tap a toe, or simply settle in and enjoy the songs that still know exactly how to stir the heart.
Join us for a lunchtime filled with music, shared memories and the warmth of coming together.
Lunch will be available to purchase on the day.
