Thursday 12 November 2026 | 6pm–7pm
Discover the fascinating and often overlooked artistic history of Polperro, one of Cornwall's most picturesque fishing villages.
Whilst Polperro did not attract many long-term residents until the 1950s, its beauty led it to rival St Ives as a destination of choice for painters from across Europe, America, Australia and beyond.
Art historian David Tovey brings this international artistic story to life, exploring the many painters who found inspiration in Polperro's harbour, narrow streets, fishing community and dramatic coastal setting.
The talk also introduces the intriguing group known as the Polperro Polemicists, led by artist Arthur Wragg, revealing a lively and distinctive chapter in Cornwall's artistic history.
An opportunity to discover the remarkable creative legacy of a village whose importance to British and international art deserves to be better known.
